Hi, I’m ERIN.

American Nordic skiing is experiencing an all-time high. We now boast Olympic Champions, World Champions, World Cup Medalists, and Junior World Champions. On the World Cup circuit, American coaches and wax technicians are at the top of their fields, continually improving each year. However, few in the U.S. possess this level of expertise and experience.

With actual World Cup coaching and waxing experience being rare, it’s incredibly difficult to gain elite coaching opportunities in the U.S.. Resources are limited, and finding high-quality ones is even more challenging. My goal with MoeningTheTracks (pronounced Man-ning) is to promote a culture of information sharing and knowledge transfer in the ski community, specifically in the Midwest.

My Experience

I grew up in Saint Paul, MN. I skied at Saint Paul Highland Park and had 3 Top 5 Finishes at the MN State Meet. I ran Cross Country and Track, and with support from my Coach Dad, I wrote my own training plan along with teammate’s plans.

I competed on the Midwest Junior National Team five times, earning eight All-American finishes, including three podiums.

After skiing at Northern Michigan University, I worked as a Student Assistant Coach and Wax Technician under legendary coach Sten Fjeldhelm.

I led the Minneapolis Ski Club program as Head Coach to a second-place finish in the Girls’ Club Team standings in both 2021 and 2022, as well as a third-place overall Club Team finish in 2021.

From 2021-2023, I worked with OutThere Nordic Race Service - learning how to work in and run a Professional Level of Race Service.

With that background, in 2023, I served as a US Ski Team World Cup Wax Technician/Coach at Ruka, Gallivare, and the 2024 Minneapolis World Cup.

I started working as a Coach Developer for US Ski and Snowboard and MoeningTheTracks in 2023, along with helping run the Team Birkie Program as the Assistant Head Coach from 2023-2025.

As of March 2025 - I am so excited to go back to my roots with Minneapolis Ski Club, working on a Personal Elite Project: The MPLS Elite Project, working on developing fast athletes, great coaches, and good community members.

I have been working full time as a Software Engineer since 2021.
