U.S. Junior Domestic Races
Junior National Qualifiers (JNQs): A collection of 4 weekends to qualify for JNs
Junior Nationals (JNs): A week of races in March (3-4 races) for athletes that have qualified for their region’s team. JNs switches locations every year
U18 Trip / Scando Cup: A small group of athletes (5-6) qualify for the U18 trip from U.S. Nationals to compete in Europe (usually Scandinavia) every year
Youth Olympic Games (YOGs): U18s also have the opportunity to qualify for YOG once every 4 years
U.S. Domestic races
U.S. SuperTour Races: The SuperTour is a series of races for U.S. Professional and Collegiate Athletes (primarily) that travels throughout the country in a season. Series Points and Results from these races can result in World Cup starts.
U.S. National Championships / U.S. Senior Nationals: U.S. Nats is a week of racing at the beginning of January every year which is the deciding factor for U18, U20, and U23 National Racing Trips, along with heavily weighing into World Cup starts. This is also a part of the SuperTour circuit.
Spring Series / U.S. Distance Nationals / SuperTour Finals: Spring Series are the last series of races in the SuperTour in the season. This is after the World Cup Athletes come back from Europe, and is the only time in the U.S. when all U.S. Elite athletes are racing head to head.
U.S. International Races
FIS World Cup: This is the international racing circuit where National teams come together almost every weekend in the Winter to Cross Country Ski Race. The Athlete with the most points at the end of the season in mid-March wins the Overall World Cup, with the trophy consisting of a 9 kilogram crystal globe.
FIS World Championships: The World Championships happen every 2 years (never overlapping on an Olympic year). These races crown World Champions over a series of races, and are occurring in Trondheim in 2025: February 26 - March 9th.
Ski Classics: The Ski Classics is a series of long-distance cross-country ski races that take place in the classic style in Europe. Professional Teams take part in this series, promoting long-distance skiing events worldwide.
